Spinal disc compression is a condition where the discs of the spine become compressed or herniated causing a myriad of issues such as numbness, weakness or pain in the extremities, including arms, hands, legs and feet.  Sometime the pain comes on suddenly, or it may progress more gradually. Spinal disc compression can also cause incontinence or difficulty urinating.

We address this condition with a treatment called spinal disc decompression.  This non-surgical spinal therapy utilizes gentle, motorized traction that takes pressure off the discs by stretching the spine.  Once pressure is relieved, the discs are able to begin healing.  Treatments can last up to 45 minutes.  Each person is different, so the number of treatments required will be determined by the underlying cause and overall response to therapy.

Patients with spinal disc compression may also receive additional treatments such as physical therapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat or cold therapy and massage therapy.  If you are experiencing symptoms of spinal disc compression, it is imperative that you make an appointment with a pain relief center for a full evaluation.
