Whiplash is damage to the neck caused when the head and torso move in different directions, often in a forceful and/or rapid manner.  Whiplash can be a result of a car accident, roller coaster, sports accident, slip and fall, or any injury that causes a sudden jolt to the neck.  While symptoms of whiplash often appear within 24 hours of injury, it can sometimes take several days to manifest.  This is why it is so important to seek chiropractic treatment from a qualified pain relief center as soon as an injury occurs.  Our next series of articles will cover some common symptoms of whiplash.

Neck Pain

Neck pain is the most common symptom of whiplash.  A qualified chiropractor can conduct an examination to determine if there are any injuries to your neck muscles, discs, bones, or ligaments.

Jaw Pain

Jaw pain (a.k.a. TMJ) actually originates in the neck.  Since whiplash is an injury to the neck, jaw pain can be an indicator of whiplash.

Dizziness

Neck injuries such as whiplash can cause inflammation to nerves in the spine that affect balance, thus causing dizziness.

Our next article will outline more symptoms of whiplash.
